Visit the New York State Trout Unlimited Council
New York State Council of Trout Unlimited is comprised of over 8,500 volunteers in 36 grass-root Chapters spread across the Empire State with a common goal to conserve, protect and restore (CPR) the cold-water streams and fisheries of New York State. Volunteers restore streams through habitat improvement projects on their "home-waters". Many times Chapters combine their efforts with other TU chapters, local, county, state and federal government agencies as well as other conservation clubs and organizations.
The Council also conducts seminars and workshops on water quality and fisheries management and work hard to educate the next generation about the importance of clean water and wild trout.
New York State Council of Trout Unlimited serves as a co-ordination and communications link between it's State Chapters. As you travel throughout New York State, you can be assured that there is a New York TU Chapter nearby, working to conserve, protect and restore the state's numerous cold water resources.
New York has more than 4,000 lakes and ponds plus over 70,000 miles of rivers and streams. This includes 15,000 miles of trout streams. You may check out the great fishing waters of our State by visiting the DEC fishing information pages. This site contains the top fishing waters, New York fishing regulations, stocking information and other interesting fishing links.
You may want to check out our New York State TU Chapter sites through the Chapter Listings links on the councils website to see the many activities and programs that help to perform the grass-root mission to conserve, protect and restore the cold-water fisheries of their localities.
